1. I was a child when the Jazz Crusaders released this album. My older sister saw them at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, CA and raved about them. When I was 18 they released Crusader 1 and later Crusader 2 (The Second Crusade). When Crusader 2 was released on CD I had the late great Joe Sample autograph it for me at a Jazz Festival in Maryland/5(10).

9. The Jazz Crusaders of the '60s were a different breed of Kat than the Crusaders later turned into and their recordings at the Lighthouse illustrated that. I had a friend that lived just down the alley and in the early '60s spent many nites sitting at the bar digging the sounds--Unfortunately never caught them/5(10).
