  8. That said, hot composting should destroy any pathogens, so long as it reaches high enough temperatures (I think it's F, but don't quote me on that). Usually, typical backyard gardeners don't build piles big enough to get that hot, thus the general recommendation is to just not use cat/dog poo for compost used in the home garden.
